What are the prerequisites for the Bachelor's thesis?
- You must have a minimum of 140 ECTS;
- And must have concluded the pratical part of your internship;
How to choose a professor and a topic?
- You are free to choose any professor who is giving lectures in the IB-program and who has been nominated by the IB-Examination Board;
- You are free to choose any international business-related topic;
- You are free to write your thesis in English or German;
- The professor of your choice must agree to your topic.
Where and how to register for the Bachelor's thesis?
- Download the form from the Studienbüro;
- Fill it in and sign it (3 times!!);
- Give it to the professor of your choice. He/she will state on it the date of issuance, the date of conclusion and will confirm the topic;
- Take the signed forms to the Studienbüro.
How much time do I have for my thesis?
- 5 months
What are the formal requirements for the Bachelor's thesis?
- Typewritten and hardback (2 printed copies!!);
- Additionally, one digital version on a CD (Please attach it to one of the printed versions, and make sure that it will be possible to open it with a word processing program);
- Fill in the Bewertungsbogen (5 times!!);
- Do not forget to enclose your declaration of plagiarism with everey single version of your thesis. Take everything to the Studienbüro which will forward it to your professor;

What about the second evaluator?
- Your professor will appoint the second evaluator;
- Your professor will forward your corrected thesis to the second evaluator;
- The second evaluator will send the thesis and the report accompanying it to the Studienbüro;
- If the grades of the first and second evaluator differ, the statistical average will be taken.
Special Hint: Tuition and ECTS
Provided you successfully finished all of your course work at the end of your 7th semester and only the Bachelor's thesis (12 ECTS) remains to be completed, you may benefit from a special payment scheme which is called "Flexibilisierte Studienzeit". Under this scheme you may have to pay only half of your tuition (€250) if during your 8th semester the credits you still need to earn are 15 ECTS or less.
Example:
Student X finished all of his course work at the end of his 7th semester and registered his Bachelor's thesis with the Studienbüro on Dec. 20.
After three months his thesis will be due which will be on March 20. Since the sommer semester started on March 15, he definitely had to extend his enrolment for the sommer, in order to keep his student status and that his grade for the thesis can be listed on his transcript of records.
Along with the extension of enrolment goes the tuition payment of €500 which initially has to be paid in full. Thereafter, the form "Formular für die hälftige Befreiung von Studienbeiträgen" may be filled in and submitted to the Studienbüro (deadline: Oct. 31 for the winter semester and April 15 for the summer semester). At the end of the semester you will receive back €250 if the total amount of credit points earned during the semester does not exceed 15 ECTS.
The scheme of "Flexibisierte Studienzeit" can be used for any semester with 15 ECTS or less. It does not necessarily have to be your 8th semester!
