Degree courses in the IB-program offer a unique combination of theoretical and practical training in an international environment.
International Experience
The IB-Bachelor includes a mandatory semester abroad. Each student will spend his/her fourth or fifth semester at one of more than 50 partner universities abroad. This wil be an exciting opportunity to listen to different approaches in management, experience life in a new society and culture, and develop sufficient language proficiency. The semester abroad is an integral part of the IB degree program for which students will be carefully prepared during their first year.
Work Experience
Another important part of the IB degree courses is the 20-week international internship supervised by professors of the OHM. IB-students will benefit from our extensive company network which includes world-renown companies such as Deutsche Bank, Siemens, Adidas, Staedtler, Audi and BMW. During the internship our students will work alongside various country managers and will acquire valuable professional experience.
Job Prospects
Employment prospects of IB-graduates are consistently and significantly higher than the national average. Approximately 98% of all IB-graduates easily find employment within the first 6 months after graduation.
Excellent Language Skills
During their studies, IB-students are required to gain proficiency in two foreign languages. Normally, the first of these two business languages is English, except for those who are native English speakers. German native speakers can choose as second business language either a language of which they already have a good command (like French), or a completely new language (such as Spanish or Italian). For all non-Germans the second business language will be German.
During the first three semesters, course instruction will be 100% in English and thereafter approximately 75% in English. English, in general, will be the principal means of communication with the academic and administrative staff as well as with fellow students.
Intercultural Competence
The intensive exposure to other cultures during their IB-studies allows our students to develop both an awareness of cultural variety and an intercultural competence, which will prepare them to work in an international environment.
International Flair in a Personalized Atmosphere
Our IB-students represent about 40 nationalities. They come from all over the world to study in the International Business program which is designed for a total of 220 students. This relatively small number allows students, faculty and staff to develop mutual relationships on a personal level. Students don't feel lost in a big, anonymous surrounding but small classes (maximum intake of 60 students per year) give them close contacts to other fellow students.
At the same time, they benefit from the modern equipment of a large business school with 2,200 full-time students, of which IB is an important part. About 25 professors, 10 language instructors and various tutors, stand ready to provide individual academic advice. All of our full-time teaching staff has excellent academic and professional credentials and our part-time lecturers hold top management positions in major international companies.
