Potential Participants
The Master program is tailored towards graduates wishing to obtain a strong specialization in International Finance and Economics while aiming for a career in international finance and/or development cooperation.
Ideally, applicants should have a first degree in business or economics, and some work or internship experience. Our program is a full-time, three semester program.
The MIFE program provides you with a strong foundation in the principles and practice of international finance and economics, with the latest concepts, knowledge and skills, as well as with the analytical tools and perspectives which form the optimal basis for qualified managerial decision making. The program will also enhance your leadership skills as well as your abilities for creative teamwork.

Contrary to many other study programs, MIFE is not just paying lip services but truly offers international exposure:
English as the Language of Instruction
Lectures and course material are all provided in English. You can complete the program without having to take any class in German. Nevertheless, we recommend that students use the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of German.
Multinational Study Environment
The study groups consist of students from all over the world which creates an international study atmosphere throughout the whole program.
Our program stresses its international perspective by encouraging students with modest prior international exposure, to take a semester abroad at one of partner universities around the globe. For students without prior international experience the semester abroad is mandatory. During their semester abroad students are exposed to a different style of teaching, as well as different methods of dealing with global financial matters. Moreover, students gain social competence in respect to different cultures and mentalities.
Strong Practice Orientation and Applied Research
This program features high academic standards with a strong leaning towards practical application.
The teaching at GSO is well known for its dual emphasis on solid academic scholarship and real world relevance. Our faculty members eagerly pursue research in their own fields of interest, and in addition, act as consultants and advisers to the industry, to government departments and committees, and, in some cases, hold directorships in a wide range of organisations. These activities help to maintain the practical relevance of the scholastic teaching and research.
The style of lecture tends to be participative, and classes frequently incorporate case analysis and discussions. There will also be group work sessions and opportunities for supervised project work, field investigations and visits, as well as individual research. Small classes allow for close personal contacts.
