Visa application: You need to apply for a study visa for your stay with us. Please note the following:
- Students from the EU-countries do not need to apply for visa
- Students from Australia, Israel, Japan, Canada, Korea, New Zealand, Switzerland and USA do not need to apply for visa as well, but have to apply for a stay permit at the alien authority Nuremberg within 3 months after arrival
- All other overseas students have to apply for a study visa at the German embassy/consulate in their home countries
Documents you need to submit along with your visa application:
- A valid passport
- Completed visa application forms available at the German embassy/consulate
- Letter of acceptance from the GSO
- Financial proof: In order to meet student visa requirements, all foreign students should be able to demon-strate access to sufficient funds (currently Euro 585 per month required by the German authorities). If you are attached to the Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences Nuremberg for 5 months, you need to show Euro 2925 as financial evidence for the period of your stay in Nürnberg. There are different ways of doing this. Please ask the German embassy/consulate in this regard and decide what is the best suitable and feasible method for you.
- Proof of health insurance: The German embassy/consulate may ask you to show proof of health insurance which covers the whole period of your stay in Nürnberg. We would advise you NOT to subscribe any travel health insurance in your home country as it may not be recognised by the German authorities. Please refer to the topic Health Insurance.
If you have submitted all the required documents, it will take about 4 weeks for the application process. You will be issued an entry visa for Germany which is valid for three months. Within these 3 months after arrival, you have to apply for a stay permit for the rest of the time till your departure. This can be done at the alien authority in Nürnberg and we will give you assistance in this matter.
