Friends and sponsors of the university have joined together to form the charitable organization, "Bund der Freunde der Georg-Simon-Ohm-Hochschule Nürnberg e.V." functioning as mediator for the goals of the university and the interests of the industry and the citizens of the region.
The members support the university with intrinsic and financial sponsoring. They jointly intensify the collaboration between the university and the industry and public.
The international dimension is being sponsored by contacts, sponsorships and exchange programs.
With the four areas of focus, Technology, Business Administration, Social Studies and Design, the Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences imparts an education to prospective graduates with titles like Dipl.-Ingenieur (FH), Dipl.-Betriebswirt (FH), Dipl.-Sozialpädagoge (FH) und Dipl.-Designer (FH), which based on hands-on teaching and research is designed to foster applied scientific methodologies and artistic concepts. Most of the students (up to 70%) come from Nuremberg and the region of Middle Frankonia.
The Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences Nuremberg continues the tradition of its predecessing institutions - the Ohm-Polytechnikum Nuremberg/State academy for Applied Technology, the business college, the colleges for social work and social pedagogy, the college of advertising and graphic of the city of Nuremberg - as a university of a new kind, a university for practise-oriented work.
The great number of 8000 students and a good working environment for the graduates in a wide range of areas may serve as a testimonial for the success of the now 30 years long work of the second largest university of applied sciences in Bavaria. The organization " Bund der Freunde der Georg-Simon-Ohm-Hochschule Nürnberg e.V." has been an indispensible accompanying partner on this long path.
