Awards
Family-friendly university
Our university was the first public university in Bavaria to receive a re-auditing certificate as "family-friendly university" from berufundfamilie GmbH, an organization promoting career and family, on April 28, 2008, confirming that our university is "family-friendly," an initiative from the non-profit Hertie Foundation. The purpose of this initiative is to optimize work and study conditions and allow students and employees to balance coursework, careers and family life.
When the basic certificate was awarded in June 2005, Ohm university was already the fore-runner.
Key components of the family-friendly university are our Hochschulservice für Familien (University Family Services) and the milliOHM daycare center.
In the category of public-law employers Ohm University won the competition “MEHRWERT Familie 2010” (Added-Value Family) which had been invited by Metropolregion Nürnberg (Metropolitan Area Nuremberg) and Bertelsmann Stiftung (Foundation) autumn 2010.
"Selected institution in Germany - Land of Ideas" competition
Not just once, but twice in a row OHM was awarded „Ausgewählter Ort im Land der Ideen“ .
In 2008 our Application Center for Polymer Optical Fibres (POF-AC) as an outstandig institute won the prize, in 2009 the "genesis" project was awarded. „genesis“ is a learn, therapy und games system for barrier-free digital entertainment, a project of our departments Elektrotechnik Feinwerktechnik Informationstechnik (efi) and Design.
Top position in professional developmen
We are among the top three German universities in the further education market. This was confirmed in the course of a 2004 national competition by the Stifterverband für die deutsche Wissenschaft (Endowment for German Science) for the best business model in higher further education professional development.
In the top 15 in the BMBF potential study
In a nationwide study carried out by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) covering all 170 Universities of Applied Sciences in 2004, our university was among the top 15 in Germany. The study emphasized our success in fundraising (first place in electrical engineering), our patent activities and founding of companies from within the university.
Award of Bavarian Department of Trade and Industry
For special services to the internationalization of universities, our International Office was awarded a prize by Bavarian State Ministry of Sciences, Research and the Arts in 2003.
German employer prize for education
Our International Office was awarded the "German employer prize for education" in 2001 for its outstanding commitment to supporting foreign students.
